Catherine’s love for the sea has dominated Catherine’s unique art practice.
After many years painting underwater images, her burgeoning art career stops in one moment. As for all, her current residency is cancelled, and everything stops in the looming shadow of the lockdown. Tearing herself from the erratic noise of the times, she reinvigorates her online presence. Inspired by the movement of material in water, Catherine further develops her art making by refining a technique which allows her access to creating floating dresses out of the seaweed paper she makes from her local Tasmanian beach.
Personifying her wisdom, her quiet diligence exudes vast wells of patience for trial and error. Pressing on in these times is to “avoid worrying about the cost and the vast need for patience, or you’ll never create”.
